Fuada Delic, Aiding and Assisting in Filing False Tax Return, Florida 2009

JACKSONVILLE, FL – In a stark display of justice, Fuada Delic, a 32-year-old Jacksonville tax preparer, has pleaded guilty to aiding and assisting in the filing of a false tax return. The United States Attorney A. Lee Bentley, III announced that Delic faces a maximum penalty of three years in federal prison for her deceitful actions.

According to authorities, Delic operated Delica’s Tax Service, where she prepared fraudulent returns that resulted in significant losses to the Internal Revenue Service. On February 6, 2009, she concocted a tax return for a taxpayer claiming $14,220 in charitable contributions and $1,820 in education expenses, leading to an erroneous refund of $3,323. The actual refund due was just $808.

Delic’s dishonesty came to light when the IRS conducted an investigation into her practices, resulting in a December 19, 2013, indictment against her. Despite being an experienced tax return preparer, Delic deliberately made false statements on the return, fully aware that such actions are illegal.

The case against Delic was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Arnold B. Corsmeier. Should she be sentenced to the maximum penalty, Delic will have to make full restitution to the IRS for the tax loss incurred from the 43 counts charged in the original indictment.

Delic’s actions serve as a stark reminder of the consequences faced by those who engage in financial fraud. Her plea comes as a victory for the IRS and its efforts to crack down on tax-related crimes.
