Omaha Man Faces Prison for Possession of Firearm

A 42-year-old man from Omaha, Nebraska, has been sentenced to 84 months in prison for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. Jacob Benjamin Tuttle, of Omaha, was found to be in possession of a Taurus .357 Magnum and 12 grams of methamphetamine when he was arrested on November 26, 2019.

Tuttle was driving a stolen car on a rural two-lane highway in Mills County, IA, when he saw a Sheriff’s patrol vehicle behind him. He accelerated to 100 mph before he crashed the car on the side of the road and ran from the scene. He was arrested a short time later.

Tuttle pleaded guilty to the offense on August 11, 2020. District Court Judge Rebecca Goodgame Ebinger handed down the 84-month prison sentence, with 3 years of supervised release following his prison term and a $100 special assessment to the Crime Victims Fund.

Tuttle is a convicted felon and drug user, making him prohibited from possessing firearms. The investigation was conducted by the Mills County Sheriff’s Office, with the case being prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
