Child Sex Abuse Offenders Arrested in Nationwide Crackdown
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A coordinated enforcement effort to identify, track, and arrest child sex predators has resulted in the rescue of 115 children and the arrests of 205 child sexual abuse offenders nationwide.
The operation, dubbed Operation Restore Justice, was executed over the course of five days by all 55 FBI field offices, the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS) in the Department’s Criminal Division, and United States Attorney’s Office around the country.
“The Attorney General said, “The Department of Justice will never stop fighting to protect victims—especially child victims—and we will not rest until we hunt down, arrest, and prosecute every child predator who preys on the most vulnerable among us.”
“Every child deserves to grow up free from fear and exploitation, and the FBI will continue to be relentless in our pursuit of those who exploit the most vulnerable among us,” said FBI Director Kash Patel.
In the Northern District of Alabama, two individuals were arrested and charged with federal crimes, including attempted coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity, transferring obscene materials to minors, sexual exploitation of children, distribution of child pornography, receipt of child pornography, and coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity and traveling with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.
Jalan Christophe Lewis, 31, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, was charged with attempted coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity, transferring obscene materials to minors, sexual exploitation of children, distribution of child pornography, receipt of child pornography, and coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity. These incidents occurred between July 2024 and November 2024 in Tuscaloosa County.
Lewis was charged with the following crimes:
• Attempted coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity
• Transferring obscene materials to minors
• Sexual exploitation of children
• Distribution of child pornography
• Receipt of child pornography
• Coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity
• Traveling with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct
Lewis is currently at large and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
The FBI is urging anyone with information about Lewis’s whereabouts to contact their local FBI office.
This is an ongoing investigation and further charges may be pending.
