Jalonni Tucker, Unarmed Bank Robbery, Massachusetts 2017
BOSTON – In a shocking turn of events, Jalonni Tucker, a 36-year-old Framingham man, pleaded guilty to two counts of unarmed bank robbery in U.S. District Court in Boston.
Tucker, a/k/a Jalonni Shabazz, is scheduled to be sentenced on July 5, 2017. He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000 on each robbery charge.
The crimes took place on June 21, 2016, and July 13, 2016, at branches of TD Bank and Citizens Bank in Framingham, respectively. In both incidents, the perpetrator entered the bank, demanded cash from the teller, and escaped in a white/silver Chrysler SUV with distinctive chrome wheels.
Law enforcement officials were able to identify Tucker as the suspect after reviewing surveillance camera footage from the banks and neighboring businesses. The investigation led them to a Framingham resident who owned the Chrysler SUV, and further investigation revealed that Tucker was married to the registered owner of the vehicle.
Tucker was arrested at his Framingham home on July 15, 2016. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kenneth G. Shine of Weinreb’s Major Crimes Unit.
Acting United States Attorney William D. Weinreb, Harold H. Shaw, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Field Division, and Framingham Police Chief Kenneth Ferguson made the announcement today.
The guilty plea marks a significant step in the prosecution of Tucker, who now awaits sentencing. The outcome of this case serves as a reminder that law enforcement is committed to bringing justice to those who commit crimes in our communities.
