A 23-year-old Maryland man has been sentenced to five years in prison for his role in distributing PCP in Washington D.C.
Jamel Michael Arrington, of District Heights, Md., was sentenced by Senior Judge Gladys Kessler on May 25, 2016, for his role in selling the hallucinogenic drug to an undercover officer in 2014 and 2015.
According to court documents, Arrington first sold PCP to the undercover officer in March 2014 and continued to make sales in the District of Columbia before and after his brief incarceration in the summer of 2014.
The undercover purchases continued until the summer of 2015, with Arrington selling PCP on at least 11 occasions. At the time of the sales, he was on supervised release for two separate criminal cases in Maryland.
Arrington pleaded guilty in May 2016 to one count of distribution of 100 grams or more of Phencyclidine (PCP). He has been in custody since his arrest on August 1, 2015.
U.S. Attorney Channing D. Phillips praised the work of the Metropolitan Police Department in the case and commended the efforts of those who assisted at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, including Paralegal Specialists Teesha Tobias and Candace Battle, and Legal Assistant Latoya Wade.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen J. Gripkey prosecuted the case. Following his prison term, Arrington will be placed on five years of supervised release.
The case highlights the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the nation’s capital.
