James King, Heroin Trafficking, Pennsylvania 2016

A Stroudsburg man has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for his role in a heroin trafficking operation.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, James King, 49, of Stroudsburg, was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Court Judge A. Richard Caputo on [no date specified] to 14 years in prison for trafficking heroin during September 2016.

King previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute heroin. He admitted to distributing between 60 and 80 grams of heroin, which is equivalent to approximately 2,000-3,000 retail bags of heroin.

Judge Caputo also ordered King to serve three years on supervised release following his prison sentence.

King was indicted by a federal grand jury in October 2016 as a result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and Stroud Area Regional Police. Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis P. Sempa prosecuted the case.

The case was brought as part of a district-wide initiative to combat the nationwide epidemic regarding the use and distribution of heroin. Led by the United States Attorney’s Office, the Heroin Initiative targets heroin traffickers operating in the Middle District of Pennsylvania and is part of a coordinated effort among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
