TYLER, Texas – A string of arrests and convictions have finally caught up with a habitual offender in Henderson County, Texas.
James Kiser, 40, was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge J. Campbell Barker on July 10, 2025, for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.
Kiser’s downfall began on October 19, 2023, when he was arrested for selling approximately 34 grams of methamphetamine to another person for $500 cash, according to information presented in court.
But this was far from Kiser’s first offense. Further investigation revealed that he has 27 prior convictions for criminal offenses in Henderson and Smith counties.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jim Noble.
Kiser’s sentence is a result of the combined efforts of federal and local law enforcement agencies who are working tirelessly to combat the ongoing methamphetamine epidemic in East Texas.
