A Butler County man has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for sexually exploiting minor boys, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
James Mark Leroy, 55, of Renfrew, PA, was convicted at trial in February on child exploitation charges and was sentenced by United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab on [Date].
Leroy was found guilty of transporting minor boys, aged 10 and 13, to Florida and Michigan with the intent to engage in illegal sexual conduct. He was also accused of plugging the boys with alcohol and prescription pills during these trips.
According to the government, Leroy had a history of sexually offending against two other victims when they were children between the ages of 10 and 13.
Acting United States Attorney Soo C. Song and Assistant United States Attorney Heidi M. Grogan prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Justice Department.
As part of the sentence, Leroy was ordered to pay a special assessment of $400, restitution of $25,000, and a fine of $125,000.
Leroy must serve a lifetime of supervised release after completing his prison term.
The FBI, Butler County District Attorney’s Office, and Penn Township Police were commended for their role in the investigation and prosecution of Leroy.
