Terre Haute Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Child Pornography
Indianapolis, IN – In a shocking turn of events, David Roberts, 50, was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Jane Magnus-Stinson for his role in producing and possessing child pornography.
The case began when one of the minor victims reported the activity to her mother, who then notified the Terre Haute Police Department. Law enforcement served search warrants on Roberts’ home and recovered over 23,000 images and videos of pornography stored on electronic equipment and storage devices.
According to Assistant United States Attorney Tiffany J. Preston, who prosecuted the case, Roberts must serve five years of supervised release following his term of imprisonment.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Terre Haute, Indiana, Police Department investigated this case. Roberts’ crimes spanned a period of five years, from 2007 to 2012, during which he placed hidden cameras in the bedrooms and bathrooms at a home he shared with two minor female victims.
The U.S. Attorney’s office emphasized that protecting vulnerable citizens from sexual predators is a top priority. ‘If you abuse children in the Southern District of Indiana, you can expect the full wrath of federal prosecution,’ said U.S. Attorney Josh J. Minkler.
Roberts’ crimes are a stark reminder of the devastating impact of child pornography on victims and their families. The case serves as a warning to those who would seek to exploit and harm our most vulnerable citizens.
