BUFFALO, N.Y. – Trenton Grant, 31, of Jamestown, is staring down the barrel of a potential life sentence after a federal jury found him guilty on multiple drug and firearms charges. The conviction, announced today by U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo, marks the culmination of a months-long investigation that exposed Grant’s brazen operation peddling poison in Western New York.
Grant was convicted of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine – a trifecta of misery fueling the opioid crisis. But the charges didn’t stop there. He was also found guilty of possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking crimes, and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. These aren’t minor offenses; they carry a mandatory minimum penalty of 20 years in prison, with the grim possibility of a life sentence.
The investigation, initiated in May 2023 by the Olean Police Department, quickly revealed a pattern of drug dealing. On July 25, 2023, officers executed search warrants on Grant’s vehicle and person, hitting the jackpot of illicit goods. They recovered approximately 71 grams of methamphetamine, five grams of cocaine, and roughly four grams of fentanyl – enough to destroy lives and line Grant’s pockets. The search also uncovered a loaded firearm and ammunition stashed in the trunk, later confirmed as stolen.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Johsua A. Violanti and Stacey Jacovetti meticulously built the case against Grant, presenting damning evidence to the jury. Adding insult to injury, authorities discovered Grant was already on parole for a February 2016 felony conviction of Assault, Intent to Cause Serious Injury with Weapon. This prior conviction legally barred him from possessing any firearm, making his current charges even more egregious.
The successful prosecution was a joint effort between the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), led by Special Agent-in-Charge Frank Tarentino of the New York Field Division, and the Olean Police Department, under the direction of Chief Ron Richardson. Their combined resources and dedication brought Grant to justice, removing a dangerous player from the streets. This case serves as a stark reminder of the relentless flow of narcotics into our communities and the violence that inevitably follows.
Sentencing is scheduled for February 4, 2026, before U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr., who presided over the trial. Grant will have ample time to contemplate his choices before learning his fate. The Grimy Times will be there to report it.
