Holly Berenguer, Fentanyl Conspiracy, New York 2024

BUFFALO, N.Y. – In a gritty blow against the毒trade in Jamestown, Holly Berenguer, 43, was handed down a severe sentence for her role in a fentanyl conspiracy.

Convicted of conspiracy to possess and distribute over 40 grams of fentanyl, Berenguer faced U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara who sentenced her to immediate jail time followed by four years of supervised release.

The case took a dark turn on September 5, 2021, when police arrested Berenguer for failure to appear in court. During processing, officers stumbled upon $450 and a white powdery substance that field-tested positive for heroin and methamphetamine. This was no fluke; Berenguer had been distributing large amounts of these deadly drugs in the Jamestown area from September 2020 until her arrest.

U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo praised the collaborative efforts of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), which led to Berenguer’s downfall. The OCDETF, a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven initiative, targets the highest-level criminal organizations that threaten the nation’s safety. More information on the OCDETF Program can be found at here.

The investigation was spearheaded by the Jamestown Police Department under Chief Timothy Jackson and the Drug Enforcement Administration, led by Special Agent-in-Charge Frank Tarantino. This sentencing is a stark reminder of the relentless fight against drug trafficking in our communities.
