Jamestown Man Sentenced to 26+ Years for Meth Ring
BUFFALO, N.Y.-A Jamestown man who headed a methamphetamine ring has been sentenced to more than 26 years in prison.
Luis Martinez, 52, of Jamestown, was convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, five grams or more of methamphetamine. U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr. handed down the sentence of 318 months in prison.
The conviction comes after Martinez conspired with others to sell methamphetamine in May and June of 2020. Investigators executed a search warrant at a Water Street residence on June 5, 2020, recovering 20 grams of cocaine, a loaded Glock, $3,534 in cash, 363 grams of methamphetamine, a kilo press, and other drug paraphernalia.
A week later, investigators received information that Martinez had an outstanding parole warrant, and he was taken into custody in a vehicle on Price Street. Authorities also recovered an additional $37,670 in cash behind a residence.
The investigation was led by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, the Jamestown Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the New York State Police.
The sentencing is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation, which identifies and dismantles high-level criminal organizations using a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Evan K. Glaberson and Michael J. Adler handled the case, which was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York.
