Brandi M. Whitford, Maintaining Meth Lab, NY 2019

A Jamestown woman has admitted to turning her home into a full-scale methamphetamine operation, pleading guilty to maintaining a drug-involved premises in a federal court in Buffalo. Brandi M. Whitford, 24, used a residence on Newland Avenue as a hub for manufacturing, distributing, and using meth between September 2019 and October 23, 2019, according to court documents.

Whitford entered her plea before U.S. Magistrate Judge H. Kenneth Schroeder, Jr., facing up to 20 years in prison and a $500,000 fine. The charge stems from a coordinated raid conducted on September 6, 2019, when investigators executed a New York State search warrant at the property. Inside, they uncovered a cache of drugs, weapons, and cash—clear signs of a high-level operation.

During the raid, authorities seized three firearms from inside the home. A fourth weapon was thrown from the residence during the search—an act investigators say shows awareness of guilt. Alongside the weapons, agents found methamphetamine scattered throughout the house, approximately $12,045 in U.S. currency, assorted ammunition, and drug paraphernalia including scales and packaging materials.

Whitford’s co-defendant, Richard E. Kinsey Jr., remains under indictment. Charges against him are still pending, and he has not entered a plea. As per federal protocol, both defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law—except in Whitford’s case, where that presumption has now been waived.

The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force. Special Agent-in-Charge Ray Donovan of the DEA, Special Agent-in-Charge John B. Devito of ATF, and Acting Jamestown Police Chief Timothy Jackson directed the multi-agency probe that dismantled the operation.

U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced the plea, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua A. Violanti handling the prosecution. Sentencing for Brandi M. Whitford has not yet been scheduled. Federal authorities say the case underscores the ongoing threat of domestic meth labs in Western New York.
