BUFFALO, N.Y. – The grim details of a Jamestown woman’s involvement in drug trafficking were laid bare today as Chelsey Hunt, 30, was sentenced to serve time and face probation for maintaining a drug-involved premises.
U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced that Hunt, convicted of allowing the operation to thrive from her Linden Avenue residence, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara. The sentence includes three years’ probation.
Hunt’s accomplice in this sordid tale was Douglas Beardsley, who was allowed to reside in the attic of Hunt’s Jamestown home. It was there that Beardsley ran a methamphetamine and heroin trafficking operation, with Hunt taking an active role in aiding his endeavors.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Joshua A. Violanti and Misha Coulson revealed that Hunt not only provided shelter but also actively helped Beardsley by managing customers and providing intelligence on local law enforcement activities surrounding the residence. Additionally, Hunt was charged with selling small amounts of narcotics for Beardsley and procuring drugs for her own use.
As the sentencing concluded, charges against Douglas Beardsley remain pending. The legal process is ongoing, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
This conviction is a result of an extensive investigation by local law enforcement agencies, including the Jamestown Police Department, the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. The case was under the direction of Chief Timothy Jackson, Special Agent-in-Charge Ray Donovan, and Special Agent-in-Charge John B. Devito.
