Jamie Marie Killian, Theft of Government Funds, Louisiana 2021

A Chalmette woman has been convicted of stealing nearly $100,000 from the Social Security Administration.

Jamie Marie Killian, 41, pleaded guilty on today to theft of government funds, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 641.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Killian embezzled the money between August 2013 and June 2020 from the Eastern District of Louisiana and elsewhere.

Killian faces a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment, followed by up to 3 years of supervised release, a fine of up to $250,000.00, and a mandatory $100.00 special assessment fee.

Sentencing in this matter is scheduled for October 27, 2021, before United States District Judge Lance M. Africk.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office would like to acknowledge the assistance of the Social Security Administration, Office of the Inspector General with this matter. The prosecution of this case is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian M. Klebba, Chief of the Financial Crimes Unit.

Killian’s actions were a blatant abuse of trust and a betrayal of the public’s faith in the Social Security Administration.
