Jamestown Man Sentenced to 96 Months for His Role in Fentanyl Conspiracy

U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced today that Jaquez Thomas, 22, of Jamestown, NY, who was convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl, was sentenced to serve 96 months in prison by U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr.

The sentencing took place on February 22, 2024, according to court documents. Thomas was found guilty of conspiring to distribute large quantities of fentanyl, a highly addictive and deadly opioid.

The conviction and sentence are a significant blow to the opioid trafficking ring that operated in Jamestown. The case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Justice, USAO, and the FBI, with assistance from the Jamestown Police Department.

Thomas’s sentence is a result of a thorough investigation and prosecution by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa. The case highlights the ongoing struggle against opioid trafficking and the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies.
