Three Individuals Charged for Making False Statements to a Bank

According to a recent Bill of Information, Jared Castellaw, Patrick Healy, and Valerie Schones have been charged with Making False Statements to a Financial Institution in the state of Louisiana.

The case, which dates back to October 2008 and continued until May 2009, alleges that the three defendants made false statements to the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) in order to qualify for FHA-insured loans.

JARED CASTELLAW, PATRICK HEALY, and VALERIE SCHONES are employed at undisclosed entities, ABC Homes, LLC, located in St. Bernard Parish, and XYZ Financial, a mortgage lending institution based in Tuscon, Arizona, respectively.

Under the charges, the defendants face a maximum of 30 years imprisonment, a fine of not more than $1,000,000, supervised release of up to 5 years, and a special assessment of $100.

U.S. Attorney Peter G. Strasser reiterated that the Bill of Information is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendants must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

The case was investigated by the Department of Housing and Urban Development Office of Inspector General and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Sharan E. Lieberman and Edward J. Rivera handling the prosecution.

The case remains ongoing, with the defendants awaiting trial.

According to the charges, the defendants’ actions had significant consequences, and they now face severe penalties if convicted.
