JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – A 29-year-old Johnstown woman has been slapped with a federal indictment for her alleged role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation.
Jasmine Hinton, 29, of Johnstown, is facing a single charge of violating a federal narcotics law after a grand jury indictment was returned by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
According to the indictment, on or about February 14, 2024, Hinton possessed with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine. If convicted, she faces a minimum of five years and up to 40 years in prison, as well as a fine of up to $5 million.
The investigation into Hinton’s alleged activities was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michael L. Mitchell on behalf of the government.
An indictment is merely an accusation, and Hinton is presumed innocent until proven guilty. However, the severity of the charges and the potential consequences should serve as a warning to those involved in the illicit methamphetamine trade.
