Jason Brenner Sentenced for Illegal Entry at Calais Port

New Jersey’s Jason Brenner, 53, faced justice today in Bangor, Maine, as he was sentenced to a staggering 115 days in federal prison for his brazen attempt to evade inspection at the Calais International Port of Entry.

The saga began on July 1, 2025, when Brenner steered his vehicle out of the United States and into Canada. After a fleeting encounter with Canadian immigration officials, he reversed course and barreled back towards the U.S., ignoring the port’s inspection lanes.

Ignoring the rules of the road, Brenner drove in the outbound lane in the wrong direction, leading to a high-speed chase that reached over 100 mph. The chase culminated in a crash that left him in the woods with a loaded firearm, two additional magazines, and body armor. Another firearm was discovered inside his vehicle.

Today’s sentence follows Brenner’s guilty plea on August 12, 2025, in U.S. District Court. He will serve his prison term before being placed under supervised release for an additional year.

The investigation into this illegal entry attempt was a collaborative effort between U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the U.S. Border Patrol, and local law enforcement from Baileyville and Indian Township police departments.

With Brenner’s sentencing behind him, authorities hope this sends a clear message that illegal actions at international borders will not be tolerated.
