Jason C. Bryant, Failure To Register As A Sex Offender, Illinois 2014

A 31-year-old East St. Louis, Illinois, man has been brought to justice for violating the terms of his sex offender registration.

Jason C. Bryant was sentenced to 21 months in prison on February 28, 2014, in federal district court in East St. Louis, Illinois, for one count of failure to register as a sex offender, announced United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Stephen R. Wigginton.

Bryant was released from prison in the State of Indiana on May 2, 2011, following his conviction there for cocaine distribution. He immediately moved to Illinois without registering as a sex offender within the three-day state requirement of his move from Indiana to Illinois.

The registration condition was due to his Criminal Sexual Assault conviction on March 24, 2000, in St. Clair County, Illinois.

Bryant was sentenced to 21 months in prison, five years of supervised release, ordered to pay a $100 special assessment and a $150 fine.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006.

The case was investigated by the United States Marshals Service and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daniel T. Kapsak.
