Jason Girven, Child Pornography, New York 2023

A Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to 70 months in prison for attempting to receive child pornography and meeting a minor online, according to a recent sentencing by U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford.

Jason Girven, 37, of Sugar Run, Pennsylvania, was convicted of attempted receipt of child pornography. The crime occurred between June 2017 and July 31, 2018, when the defendant contacted an undercover New York State Police Investigator posing as a 13-year-old minor female using an online social networking application.

The defendant, Girven, engaged in conversations with the agent, some of which were sexual in nature. During this time period, the defendant received child pornography. On July 31, 2018, the defendant traveled to Horseheads, NY to meet who he believed was the 13-year-old minor female.

The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the New York State Police, under the direction of Major Eric Laughton, and Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Kevin Kelly.
