Defendant Sentenced for Attempting to Produce Child Pornography
LAFAYETTE, La. – In a disturbing case of online exploitation, Jason Matthew Miller, 26, of Eunice, Louisiana, has been sentenced to 210 months (17 years, 6 months) in prison for attempting to produce child pornography.
According to the investigation, Miller began communicating with a 13-year-old female through Instagram, a social media platform, in July 2018. He told her he was a 15-year-old male, but in truth, he was 20 years old at the time. Miller asked the minor female to send him sexually explicit photos of herself, which she did so.
Law enforcement agents began an investigation after receiving information about Miller’s online activities. Through their investigation, it was revealed that Miller had communicated with the minor female and asked for and received sexually explicit photos of her.
Miller pleaded guilty to the charges at a hearing on June 26, 2024, and admitted to his wrongdoing. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney J. Luke Walker.
Miller’s sentence is a stark reminder of the severity of online exploitation and the importance of protecting our children from predators. His sentence will serve as a warning to others who engage in similar activities.
Miller will serve a lifetime of supervised release after his prison term. This case is a testament to the tireless efforts of law enforcement and prosecutors who work tirelessly to bring predators to justice.
In a separate and unrelated case, Michael Rios, 30, of San Antonio, Texas, was sentenced to 120 months (10 years) in prison for attempting to produce child pornography.
