Firearms Trafficking Bust in Taunton, Massachusetts

27-year-old Jaylen Rose, a resident of Taunton, Massachusetts, has been arrested and charged with firearms trafficking, dealing in firearms without a license, and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. The indictment, unsealed in federal court in Worcester, alleges that Rose engaged in firearms dealing between December 2020 and February 5, 2021.

According to the indictment, on February 5, 2021, Rose allegedly possessed two pistols and over 40 rounds of ammunition. It is also alleged that Rose does not possess a license to deal firearms and is prohibited from possessing firearms due to prior convictions.

Rose was indicted on one count of dealing in firearms without a license and two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. The charge of dealing in firearms without a license provides for a sentence of up to five years in prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.

The charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition provides for a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. Sentences are imposed by a federal district court judge based upon the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Rose was detained following an initial appearance and arraignment before U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge David H. Hennessy in federal court in Worcester.

The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, Boston Field Division, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service for the District of Massachusetts and the Massachusetts State Police. Assistant U.S. Attorney J. Mackenzie Duane of Rollins’ Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.
