Jeffery Alexander, Bank Robbery, Missouri 2022

A brazen daylight bank robbery in Florissant, Missouri, has ended with a convicted felon facing a hefty prison sentence.

On April 13, 2022, Jeffery Alexander, 64, of St. Louis, stormed into a bank in the 1000 block of North Highway 67, wielding a handgun and a menacing attitude. The 64-year-old, wearing a dark rain poncho, a mask, and blue nitrile gloves, pointed the gun at employees and demanded that a teller fill a bag with cash.

A witness, who had been in the area, had the misfortune of being followed by Alexander as he fled the scene. In an attempt to shake the witness, Alexander fired a shot at their vehicle. However, police were hot on his trail and quickly apprehended him in a neighborhood about two miles away.

Alexander was found sitting in his Dodge Ram, with the money from the robbery, his disguise, and his Hi-Point .40-caliber pistol. The case was a textbook example of swift justice, with the Florissant Police Department and the FBI working in tandem to bring the perpetrator to justice.

Jeffery Alexander, a convicted felon, has a long history of armed robbery. In 1981, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison for an armed robbery conviction in Illinois. He also received a 55-year sentence for a second armed robbery conviction in the same state.

On February 15, 2023, Alexander pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in St. Louis to one count of bank robbery, one count of discharging a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Rodney W. Sippel sentenced him to 138 months in prison.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Ashley M. Walker prosecuted the case, securing a significant sentence for a crime that could have had devastating consequences.

The outcome of this case sends a clear message that bank robbery and firearms offenses will not be taken lightly. Alexander’s lengthy prison sentence serves as a deterrent to others who would consider engaging in such violent and reckless behavior.
