An Alabama court has dealt a significant blow to the state’s methamphetamine trade, as a Pensacola man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for his involvement in a conspiracy to distribute the highly addictive substance.
According to court documents, Jeffery Mason Baisch, 48, played a key role in supplying methamphetamine ice to various suppliers in Baldwin County, Alabama. The 10-year sentence was handed down by United States District Court Judge Kristi K. Dubose on October 15, 2021.
Baisch’s role in the drug distribution organization was exposed through the testimony of several co-conspirators and an undercover informant who purchased methamphetamine from him. A search warrant executed at Baisch’s residence in Pensacola uncovered additional evidence of his involvement in the crime.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Gloria Bedwell prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States. The investigation was conducted by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, the Baldwin County Drug Task Force, the Pensacola office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force.
As a condition of his supervised release, Baisch will undergo testing and treatment for drug abuse and be subject to searches of his person and premises upon reasonable suspicion. A fine of $0 was imposed, but Baisch was ordered to pay $100 in special assessments.
Baisch’s sentencing is a significant victory for law enforcement efforts to combat the growing methamphetamine problem in Baldwin County. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of cooperation between local, state, and federal agencies in disrupting and dismantling drug trafficking organizations.
With this sentence, Baisch will be spending the next decade behind bars, a consequence of his involvement in the conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine ice to various suppliers in Baldwin County.
