A 57-year-old Indiana County man has been sentenced to 60 months in prison for his crime of possessing material depicting the exploitation of minors.
According to information presented to the court, in February 2018, investigators from Homeland Security Investigations, HSI Pittsburgh were advised that Jeffrey Allen Sink, a convicted sex offender, was obtaining child sexual abuse material from a mobile communication application.
In March 2018, investigators seized Sink’s electronic devices, including a cellphone, and located videos and images of material depicting the sexual exploitation of minor children.
On his conviction of possession of material depicting the exploitation of minors, United States District Judge Nora Barry Fischer imposed the sentence of 60 months in prison, five years of supervised release, restitution of $2,000, and an assessment pursuant to the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act of $5,000 on Jeffrey Allen Sink.
Assistant United States Attorney Jessica Lieber Smolar prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan commended the Department of Homeland Security Investigations for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Sink.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
