Jeffrey Michael Dicus, Child Pornography, South Dakota 2023

A 38-year-old Sioux Falls man has been charged with federal child pornography crimes.

According to a federal indictment, Jeffrey Michael Dicus knowingly possessed and attempted to possess material containing images of child pornography on his electronic device between April 12, 2013, and February 8, 2023, as well as between February 16, 2018, and February 8, 2023.

The indictment also alleges that Dicus knowingly transported child pornography into his Dropbox account between January 5, 2017, and February 8, 2023.

The maximum penalty upon conviction is up to 20 years in federal prison and/or a $250,000 fine, life of supervised release, and up to $300 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.

Dicus, who appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy on June 9, 2023, pleaded not guilty to the indictment.

The investigation is being conducted by Homeland Security Investigation and the Sioux Falls Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey C. Clapper is prosecuting the case.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Jeffrey Michael Dicus, 38, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, was indicted in June of 2023 for two counts of Possession of Child Pornography and Transportation of Child Pornography.

Dicus was remanded back to the custody of the State pending trial. A trial date has not been set.
