Sex Trafficker Sentenced to 58 Months in Prison
BOSTON – Jennifer Fortier, 51, of New Haven, Conn., has been sentenced to 58 months in prison for sex trafficking and the interstate transportation of two separate victims for the purposes of prostitution.
Fortier was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Denise J. Casper on [no date given] in federal court in Boston. She pleaded guilty in November 2024 to two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion and one count of knowingly transporting any individual in interstate or foreign commerce, with intent that such individual engage in prostitution.
Fortier was indicted by a federal grand jury in August 2023, along with her co-defendants Jermall Anderson and Latasha Anderson. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen W. Hassink of the Narcotics & Money Laundering Unit.
“Jennifer Fortier inflicted violence against these women, who were vulnerable, homeless, unemployed, and suffering from drug addiction, all to feed the profits of this criminal sex-trafficking organization,” said United States Attorney Leah B. Foley. “Prosecuting those who exploit others for their own personal gain is something that my office will continue to put our resources into. Everybody deserves to be treated with dignity, not exploited for their addictions and life circumstances.”
Fortier and her co-conspirators used physical violence, threats, and the giving and withholding of heroin and cocaine to force two different victims to prostitute on their behalf. The victims were targeted because of their vulnerabilities, including drug addiction, homelessness, and lack of economic resources.
