Jeremiah Lincoln Seib, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, West Virginia 2020

ELKINS, WEST VIRGINIA — The grim reality of a life of crime has caught up with one Grant County man. Jeremiah Lincoln Seib, 42, of Petersburg, West Virginia, has admitted to a firearms charge, Acting U.S. Attorney Randolph J. Bernard announced.

Seib pleaded guilty to one count of “Unlawful Possession of a Firearm” today. The admission comes after it was discovered that Seib, a person prohibited from having firearms because of a robbery conviction, had a .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol in December 2020 in Grant County.

Seib faces up to 10 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen D. Warner is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Aloi presided over the case.

Seib’s actions have put him in a precarious position, and he will now face the consequences of his actions. The case serves as a reminder that those who break the law will be held accountable.
