Michael C. Meade, Jr., Possession by a Prohibited Person, West Virginia 2021

A 27-year-old Masontown, West Virginia man has been handed a stiff sentence for violating local gun laws.

Michael C. Meade, Jr., 27, pleaded guilty in May 2021 to one count of Possession by a Prohibited Person in U.S. District Court, Northern District of West Virginia, in Clarksburg.

The crime date was February 2019 in Marion County, West Virginia. Meade had previously been convicted of a domestic battery charge in Marion County.

Meade admitted to having a semi-automatic pistol, which is a serious offense under West Virginia law. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, & Explosives and the Fairmont Police Department investigated the case.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Danae DeMasi-Lemon prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.

Senior U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided over the trial.
