In a harsh blow to the streets of Lenoir, North Carolina, a local felon has been handed a 15-year prison sentence for his involvement in a string of crimes.
Jeremy David Greene, 47, of Lenoir, was found guilty of possession of a firearm by a felon and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The charges stem from a traffic stop on April 14, 2023, where law enforcement officers seized over 500 grams of methamphetamine, a 9mm pistol, 36 rounds of ammunition, and $11,900 in cash from his vehicle.
Greene’s lengthy rap sheet includes prior felony convictions for Assault with a Deadly Weapon on Law Enforcement, making him prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition. Despite this, he continued to break the law, putting himself and others at risk.
According to court records, law enforcement received information in April 2022 that Greene was selling large amounts of methamphetamine in Caldwell County. This information, combined with outstanding arrest warrants for state law violations, led to the investigation and eventual arrest of Greene.
U.S. Attorney Dena J. King commended the ATF and the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office for their investigation and thanked the Caldwell County District Attorney’s Office for their invaluable assistance and coordination. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney William Wiseman prosecuted the case.
Greene is currently in federal custody and will be transferred to the custody of the federal Bureau of Prisons upon designation of a federal facility. He will serve 15 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of methamphetamine and the importance of law enforcement’s tireless efforts to keep our communities safe.
