Jeremy Joseph Box, a Luzerne County man, faces federal charges for child pornography.
A federal grand jury in Scranton returned an indictment today charging Jeremy Joseph Box, age 29, of Hazleton City, Luzerne County, with the receipt, distribution and possession of child pornography. According to United States Attorney Peter J. Smith, the charges stem from an investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Computer Crimes Unit and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (ICE HSI).
The investigation revealed that Box allegedly committed the offenses between 2011 and 2013. Box was taken into custody on related state charges on December 6, 2012.

Box’s case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Prosecution is assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Olshefski.

Box faces a maximum penalty of 30 years’ imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine. The statutory maximum penalty for the offense is not an accurate indicator of the potential sentence for a specific defendant.
