A Mount Vernon man has been charged in White Plains federal court with threatening to shoot police officers.
Jeremy Mott, 24, was taken into federal custody on [January 1, 2015] and was presented in White Plains federal court before U.S. Magistrate Judge Lisa Margaret Smith.
Mott was released on bond, according to court documents.
The charges against Mott stem from a series of threatening posts he made on Facebook and Instagram, including digital images of an individual discharging a firearm into a police vehicle through the driver’s side window.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Mott threatened to shoot Mount Vernon police officers in the Facebook message, stating, ‘I SWEAR IF COPS IN MOUNT VERNON THINK THEY CAN FOLLOW THE MADNESS THIS IS HOW THEY GOING TO END UP.’
In the Instagram message, Mott threatened to shoot police officers, stating, ‘THEY BETTER KEEP THAT CRAZY SHYT AWAY FROM MOUNT VERNON CAUSE ME & MY [N****S] NOT PLAYING NO GAMES WITH THEM PPL ! !’
Mott is charged with one count of making interstate threats, which upon conviction carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
