Carjacking Suspect Charged and Arrested in Puerto Rico

A brazen carjacking incident in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, has led to the indictment and arrest of Jeremy Ruiz-Rosario, 22. The carjackings, which occurred on the same day, targeted two adult females in a parking lot.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, Ruiz-Rosario and others brandished firearms during the carjackings. The victims were carjacked at gunpoint from a fast-food restaurant parking lot. Ruiz-Rosario and his accomplices took a white 2020 Toyota RAV4 and a white 2011 Nissan Rogue.

The carjackings took place on August 30, 2021. However, it wasn’t until January 7, 2026, that a federal grand jury returned an indictment charging Ruiz-Rosario with two carjackings. The indictment also includes firearms charges.

On January 12, 2026, the Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested Ruiz-Rosario. The investigation was led by the FBI, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Julian N. Radzinschi is in charge of the prosecution.

Ruiz-Rosario faces a sentence of up to 15 years in prison for the carjackings and up to life in prison for the firearms charges. An indictment is merely an allegation, and Ruiz-Rosario is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
