BUFFALO, N.Y. – A notorious gang associate from Buffalo has been sentenced to nearly 16 years in prison for his role in a massive cocaine distribution operation.
Jerome Grant, 36, a convicted Schuele Boys Gang associate, was handed down a 188-month sentence by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara for his involvement in a cocaine distribution ring that plagued the city’s East Side.
According to court documents, Grant conspired with other Schuele Boys Gang members between June 2013 and July 23, 2014, to distribute the illicit substance in Buffalo. What’s more, he allegedly purchased cocaine from fellow gang members and broke it down into smaller packages for redistribution to customers.
The Schuele Boys Gang, which operated in the Schuele Street area of the East Side, is believed to be responsible for multiple acts of violence and the distribution of other illicit substances, including crack cocaine and marijuana.
Today’s sentencing marks the culmination of an investigation by the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force, led by Special Agent-in-Charge Adam S. Cohen. The task force arrested 28 individuals in connection with the case, with 18 already convicted.
Assistant U.S. Attorney George C. Burgasser handled the case, stating that Grant’s actions were part of a larger scheme to distribute cocaine in the city.
The sentencing comes as a blow to the Schuele Boys Gang, which has been a thorn in the side of law enforcement for years. With Grant’s conviction and sentencing, the community can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that one of the most notorious gang associates has been held accountable for his crimes.
