A Hamden man has been sentenced to 5 years in federal prison for selling crack cocaine in Connecticut. JEROME MOYE, 32, was found guilty of possession with intent to distribute and distribute crack, according to court documents.
MOYE was arrested on August 27, 2014, and has been detained ever since. He pleaded guilty on February 24, 2015 to one count of possession with intent to distribute and distribute crack.
MOYE’s history of felony convictions includes a sexual assault conviction and numerous violations of probation. He previously served a state prison term of more than three years for a narcotics distribution offense.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the New Haven Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Peter D. Markle prosecuted the case.
MOYE was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Vanessa L. Bryant in Hartford to 60 months imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release.
The sale of crack cocaine is a serious offense, and MOYE’s sentence reflects the severity of his crimes. We hope that his imprisonment will serve as a deterrent to others who would engage in similar activity.
According to court documents, MOYE sold crack cocaine to an individual working with law enforcement on six occasions between February and April 2014.
