A Randolph County man has admitted to a serious drug charge, according to U.S. Attorney Bill Powell.
Jesse David Tolson, 34, of Elkins, West Virginia, has pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine. The crime occurred in December 2019 in Randolph County.
Tolson faces a minimum of 10 years and up to life in prison, as well as a fine of up to $10 million. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based on the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
The case was investigated by the Mountain Region Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen D. Warner is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Aloi presided over the proceedings.
Tolson’s guilty plea marks a significant victory for law enforcement in the fight against methamphetamine trafficking in Randolph County. The case serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of engaging in drug-related activity.
