Hobbs Man Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison for Violating Federal Firearms Laws
Jesus Fabian Jimenez, 41, of Hobbs, New Mexico, was sentenced to 60 months in prison for violating federal firearms laws by unlawfully possessing firearms and ammunition.
According to the indictment, Jimenez was prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition because he previously had been convicted of battery on a peace officer, larceny, and trafficking a controlled substance.
Jimenez was arrested on November 10, 2016, on an indictment charging him with being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition on January 9, 2014, in Lea County, New Mexico.
Jimenez pled guilty to the indictment without the benefit of a plea agreement on March 3, 2017.
The Lea County Drug Task Force, comprised of officers from the Lea County Sheriff’s Office, Hobbs Police Department, Lovington Police Department, Eunice Police Department, the Tatum Police Department, and the Jal Police Department, investigated the case.
Jimenez will be on supervised release for three years after completing his prison sentence.
