A devastating collision shook the suburban streets of Indianapolis yesterday, leaving a family shattered and a young life lost. Jewell E Walden Jr, just 9 months old, was instantly killed when the family’s automobile slammed into a Lebanon Traction Company train three miles northwest of the city. The tragedy unfolded as Jewell’s father, Jewell E Walden, navigated a detour along Michigan Road, north of the city limits. A deep cut obscured the view of the oncoming train, and it was only when the vehicle was already in the path of the train that Jewell claimed to have heard the warning whistle.
