Muskogee, Oklahoma – A resident of Adair County, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to a federal firearm crime, facing serious prison time and a hefty fine.
Jimmy Darrell Porter Jr., 40, of Westville, Oklahoma, entered a guilty plea to one count of Use, Carry, Brandish and Discharge of a Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime of Violence, punishable by a minimum of 10 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000.00.
According to court documents, the crime allegedly took place on August 4, 2024, when Porter knowingly used, carried, brandished, and discharged a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
The charge arose from an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service, and the Westville Police Department.
The Honorable D. Edward Snow, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.
A U.S. District Court Judge will determine the sentence to be imposed after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
Porter will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing.
