Jimmy Perez Sentenced for Coercion of Minor
MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – In a shocking case of child exploitation, Santiago ‘Jimmy’ Perez III, a 40-year-old man from Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to one count of Coercion and Enticement of a Minor.
The charges stem from an incident on May 3, 2019, where Perez visited the school of an 11-year-old victim and removed them from school without their parents’ knowledge or consent. Perez then took the victim to his residence in Westville, Oklahoma, where he attempted to sexually abuse them.
The case was investigated by the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Perez’s actions have left the community reeling, with many calling for harsher penalties for those who prey on the vulnerable.
Perez faces a minimum of 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, or both, as well as a term of supervised release of at least 5 years and a special assessment fee of $100. The Honorable Jodi Dishman, U.S. District Judge in the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma, accepted Perez’s plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Anthony Marek represented the United States in the case. As the community comes to terms with the severity of Perez’s actions, many are left wondering how such a heinous crime could have occurred in their backyard.
The guilty plea serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance in protecting our children from predators like Perez. As the case moves forward, one thing is clear: justice will be served, and Perez will face the full weight of the law for his crimes.
The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
