Jo-El Rene Torres, Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin and Fentanyl, West Virginia 2020

A Clarksburg man has admitted to a serious crime in West Virginia. Jo-El Rene Torres, of Clarksburg, West Virginia, has pleaded guilty to one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin and Fentanyl, according to a recent announcement from Acting United States Attorney Randolph J. Bernard.

Torres, 36, pleaded guilty to the charge on today’s date in Upshur County. The crime occurred in May 2020. Torres admitted to having heroin and fentanyl in Upshur County during that time.

Torres faces up to 20 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $1,000,000. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen D. Warner is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Mountain Lakes Drug Task Force, the West Virginia State Police, the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office, and the Buckhannon Police Department investigated.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Aloi presided over the case.

Torres is a resident of Clarksburg in West Virginia. The crime occurred in Upshur County, West Virginia, in May 2020. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen D. Warner on behalf of the government.

The charges against Torres are serious and could result in significant prison time and fines. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence will be based on the seriousness of the offenses and any prior criminal history.
