Federal Prison Sentence for Hopkinton Felon

A Hopkinton felon, Jody Lee Davis, 47, from Hopkinton, Iowa, has been sentenced to nearly twenty years in federal prison for attempting to manufacture methamphetamine with his wife in June 2015.

According to the court documents, Jody Lee Davis received the prison term after a guilty plea to one count of Attempted Manufacture and Aiding and Abetting the Attempted Manufacture of Methamphetamine on November 16, 2015. At the guilty plea, Davis admitted he had three prior methamphetamine-related Iowa felony convictions when, on June 20, 2015, he tried to manufacture methamphetamine and helped his wife, Lisa Ann Davis, try to do the same.

Deputies with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested the Davises following the execution of a search warrant at their Hopkinton home on June 20, 2015. In November 2015, a jury convicted Lisa Ann Davis of three federal methamphetamine-related charges. She is awaiting sentencing.

Jody Lee Davis was sentenced in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Chief Judge Linda R. Reade. He was sentenced to 210 months’ imprisonment. A special assessment of $100 was imposed. He must also serve a three-year term of supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system. Davis is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Timothy L. Vavricek and Special Assistant United States Attorney Erin Eldridge and investigated by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.

Davis’s wife, Lisa Ann Davis, is awaiting sentencing for her involvement in the attempted methamphetamine manufacture. The case highlights the ongoing issue of methamphetamine-related crimes in Iowa.
