CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – A chilling crime has shaken the USP Hazelton facility in Bruceton Mills, West Virginia. In a disturbing incident that occurred on October 2017, an inmate at the time, Joenell L. Rice, allegedly assaulted another inmate, D.G., resulting in his tragic death.
According to Acting United States Attorney Randolph J. Bernard, Joenell L. Rice, 34, is now facing one count of “Voluntary Manslaughter” and one count of “Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury”. The indictment alleges that Rice struck D.G. multiple times in the head, leading to his demise.
Rice, a former inmate at USP Hazelton in Bruceton Mills, West Virginia, is accused of committing this heinous crime. The Federal Bureau of Prisons, Special Investigative Services, conducted a thorough investigation into the matter.
Rice faces severe consequences for his alleged actions. He may receive up to 15 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000 for the manslaughter charge. Additionally, he may face up to 10 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000 for the assault charge.
