A South Bend court has convicted a Tennessee man of being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm in relation to a drug trafficking crime, U.S. Attorney Kirsch announced. John A. Baldwin, Jr., 38, of Clarksville, Tennessee, was sentenced before South Bend District Court Judge Robert L. Miller, Jr.
Baldwin was sentenced to a total of 117 months imprisonment followed by 2 years of supervised release. According to documents in this case, on May 23, 2017, Baldwin was selling methamphetamine out of a hotel in South Bend, Indiana. Baldwin possessed over 25 grams of methamphetamine along with two handguns, a 9mm and a .45 caliber, at the time of his arrest.
Baldwin had a prior felony conviction from Montgomery County, Tennessee in September 2011. This case was investigated by the ATF with the assistance of the St. Joseph County Drug Investigation Unit and the South Bend Police Department and was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Molly E. Donnelly.
