RALEIGH – A Raleigh man has pleaded guilty to child pornography charges.

JOHN LOUIS LEWANDOWSKI, 51, pled guilty before United States Magistrate Judge James E. Gates to receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 2252(a)(2) and 2252(a)(4)(B), during his arraignment.

On December 17, 2013, a 15-Count Indictment was filed charging LEWANDOWSKI with these violations.

According to the investigation, after LEWANDOWSKI was determined to be a customer of a company which sold pornographic videos of children, a search was executed at his home.

LEWANDOWSKI admitted to the searching agents that they would find both videos he had ordered from the company and delivered him by mail, and other child pornography which he had downloaded from the internet. Forensic review of the materials seized revealed numerous videos and images of child pornography.

At sentencing, LEWANDOWSKI faces a minimum of 5 years and up to 20 years imprisonment on each of the fourteen counts of receipt of child pornography, and up to 20 years on the count charging possession of child pornography.

Investigation of this case was conducted by the United States Postal Inspection Service, United States Department of Homeland Security, and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

This case was part of the Project Safe Childhood initiative, a national program aimed at ensuring that criminals exploiting children are effectively prosecuted by making full use of all available law enforcement resources at every level.
