Making False Statements to HUD Lands CEO Behind Bars

In a shocking turn of events, John Seckel, CEO of Seckel Capital, LLC, has been charged with making false statements to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The charges, which were filed on no specific date, stem from Seckel’s actions as the CEO of Seckel Capital, an FHA-approved mortgage lender in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

According to the information, Seckel had been making false statements to HUD since 2012, which led to the lender’s approval status as an FHA-approved lender. The false statements included forged audited financial statements and certifications claiming that Seckel had met the net worth and other requirements to be approved as an FHA lender.

The investigation, which was conducted by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of Inspector General, revealed that Seckel’s actions were a blatant disregard for the law. If convicted, Seckel faces a maximum statutory sentence of eight years’ imprisonment.

Assistant United States Attorney Laurie Magid is prosecuting the case. An Indictment, Information, or Criminal Complaint is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The case serves as a reminder of the importance of honesty and transparency in business dealings. Seckel’s actions not only put his company’s reputation at risk but also the financial security of homeowners who relied on his services.

Seckel Capital, LLC, which is currently facing the consequences of Seckel’s actions, was approved by the Federal Housing Administration to originate mortgage loans from 2012 to 2015. The company’s approval status was maintained through Seckel’s false statements.
