BLUEFIELD, WV – A Bluefield man is headed to federal prison after pleading guilty to distributing highly addictive painkillers, according to a sentencing handed down by Senior United States District Judge David A. Faber.
Johnathan Damron, 41, was sentenced to 27 months in prison on two counts of distributing hydromorphone, a potent synthetic opioid, to an informant in Bluefield in 2017.
The case was investigated by the Southern Regional Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, who worked tirelessly to bring Damron to justice.
“We are doing everything within our power to shut down illegal pill trafficking,” said United States Attorney Mike Stuart. “One by one, we will take these pill dealers down.”
Damron admitted to selling hydromorphone to an informant on November 9 and November 13, 2017. Assistant United States Attorney John File handled the prosecution and worked closely with the task force to secure the conviction.
Damron’s sentence is a stark reminder that those who deal in illicit narcotics will be held accountable for their actions.
