PROVIDENCE – The grimy streets of Johnston, Rhode Island, are once again a focal point of federal law enforcement as Jonathan P. Graziano, 41, has been indicted for a heinous crime. This isn’t just another case; Graziano is no stranger to criminal proceedings after being convicted and sentenced in 2006 for felony assaults involving the molestation of two minors.
The Johnston sex offender now finds himself in federal custody, charged with possession of child pornography by a federal grand jury. The U.S. Attorney’s Office has been swift in their action against Graziano, who stands accused of downloading graphic and disturbing material involving the sexual exploitation of children.
Court documents reveal that the investigation was sparked by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Rhode Island State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. They had reviewed a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding a user distributing child sexual abuse material via a messaging application. Further sleuthing led them to Graziano’s Johnston residence, where they uncovered a trove of images and videos of child pornography on his personal electronic device.
Graziano is currently detained in federal custody following an arrest on June 18, 2025. His arraignment for the new charges is set for July 25, 2025. It’s important to note that an indictment is merely an accusation, and Graziano is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney G. Michael Seaman, who has been at the forefront of the fight against child exploitation. The investigation was a collaborative effort between HSI and the Rhode Island State Police ICAC Task Force. It’s part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative that aims to combat the epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
