Jon Norman Moren, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Kentucky 2023

A Richmond man, Jon Norman Moren, 45, has been sentenced to 135 months in federal prison for possession with the intent to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine and for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Chief United States District Judge Karen K. Caldwell handed down the sentence yesterday. Moren was also ordered to forfeit $2,245 in cash, two firearms, and 366 rounds of ammunition.

The investigation began on September 21, 2016, when a search warrant was executed at Moren’s residence in Lexington. During the search, law enforcement agents seized more than a pound of methamphetamine, which Moren admitted he intended to sell.

Moren also possessed a pistol and rifle, despite having previously been convicted of a state drug trafficking felony, as well as other state drug charges.

Under federal law, Moren must serve 85 percent of his prison sentence. Upon his release, he will be under the supervision of the United States Probation Office for three years.

The investigation was conducted by the ATF, DEA, and the Lexington Police Department. The United States was represented by Assistant United States Attorney Roger W. West.

The joint announcement was made by Robert M. Duncan, Jr., United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; Stuart Lowrey, Special Agent in Charge ATF; D. Christopher Evans, Special Agent in Charge, DEA; and Chief Lawrence Weathers, Lexington Police Department.
